At the New Jersey Professional Engineers in Construction (NJPEC), we champion the advancement of construction engineering across New Jersey by supporting the professionals who build and maintain the state’s essential infrastructure. As a nonprofit practice division of the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers (NJSPE), our purpose is clear: to elevate the engineering profession, promote public safety and welfare, and create meaningful opportunities for those shaping New Jersey’s bridges, highways, dams, turnpikes, and transit systems.

We work at the intersection of technical excellence and civic responsibility. Our members are licensed professional engineers, contractors, consultants, and technical leaders who contribute to the built environment through innovative design, thoughtful planning, and skilled execution. Whether designing a complex interchange, supporting foundation engineering for a major bridge, or advancing new safety standards in highway construction, NJPEC members are integral to how people move and how communities grow.

A core part of our mission is policy advocacy. NJPEC actively collaborates with lawmakers, state agencies, and regulatory bodies to help shape legislation and administrative policies that best serve both the engineering profession and the people of New Jersey. From licensure support to public infrastructure investment, our voice helps ensure that policies reflect the realities and responsibilities of modern construction engineering.

We also take professional development seriously. NJPEC regularly organizes technical seminars and educational events that provide Professional Development Hours (PDHs) for engineers in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. These sessions are designed to keep engineers informed on emerging technologies, best practices, and regulatory changes, while fostering peer-to-peer knowledge sharing. We believe continuous learning is vital to building infrastructure that is safe, resilient, and future-ready.

Through our scholarship program, we invest in the next generation of construction engineers. The Sol Seid Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a standout junior-year civil engineering or construction technology student, offering not just financial support but also the recognition of industry peers. We also offer additional grants to finalists if our scholarship fund coffer allows, encouraging a pipeline of well-prepared, ethically grounded professionals who are committed to improving the built world.

Finally, we build community—because engineering doesn’t happen in a vacuum. NJPEC hosts two signature events each year: the Construction Unity Dinner and the Bonhag Awards Dinner Dance. These gatherings bring together contractors, consulting firms, state transportation leaders, educators, and students to celebrate achievement, honor excellence, and foster industry-wide collaboration. From scholarship recipients to seasoned CEOs, our events embody the spirit of unity and progress.

At NJPEC, what we do is more than advocacy, education, or networking—it’s about creating a culture where engineering excellence is expected, supported, and celebrated. We are proud to serve as the voice and home of New Jersey’s construction engineers, working every day to build a safer, stronger, and smarter future for the communities we serve.
