Dear Fellow Engineers in Construction,
Once again, I hope everyone has had a safe and enjoyable summer & fall. I welcome you back to what we believe will be a great year for the PEC of NJ.
Iím happy to report that our transition from CIAP has gone without a hitch. Vicky Collins is still doing the great job she did for us while under CIAP, as she continues to help us grow the organization.
More than ever it is important that we all support the efforts of the PEC and do our part to maintain it as the premier engineering and construction organization in New Jersey. Our list of sustaining firms is growing quickly. By supporting us we support you by including your firms name on our letter head and by the displaying of our sustaining firms names with their logos at each of our events.
The PEC has been able to attract a diverse group of interests from Contractors, Consulting Engineers, Owners, and Construction Vendors, in a forum that combines networking with education. We have been one of the most successful engineering organizations in New Jersey and it is my goal again this year to maintain that high standard while seeking to involve more firms and more individuals. We ask that anyone who is not currently a member of NJPEC or whose firm is not a Sustaining Firm with NJPEC, please consider joining. Whether youíre a construction contractor, a designer of construction projects or in any way associated with the construction industry, the PEC is your organization and the people who attend our functions are your colleagues. Broaden your knowledge, broaden your contacts, and join us at this yearís events.
We are continuing with our goal of providing three technical presentations between September and February, in addition to our regular program. Our plan is to provide presentations that are more technical in nature so as to provide useful learning as well as helping to satisfy PDH requirements. As of our first presentation this year, on October 14th, attended by more than 80, we now have NY State approval of our Technical Presentations.
Our second Technical Presentation will be provided by Figg Engineering on December 2nd featuring a very interesting Segmental Bridge Construction project in Vermont. Our third Technical presentation is tentatively scheduled for February, 10, 2015. Of course, in addition to our regular meetings and technical presentations, we will be having our Unity Dinner on February 26th, 2015 and our Bonhag Dinner Dance on May 5th, 2015, where we will once again honor our Construction Engineers of the Year and present our Sol Seid Scholarship Award.
Iíd like to thank in advance the NJSPE, our Officers, our Executive Committee, and particularly Victoria Collins, and John Clearwater, PE for their dedication, support and help in the success of the PEC.
